Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management

The Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning began as Ekiti State Planning Commission on 31st May, 1998 with an edict signed by the then Military Administrator, Lt. Col. M.I Bawa. However, the Commission became a full fledged Ministry and was re-named Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in December, 2012.

The Ministry is divided into the following  Departments:

In continuation of its efforts at improving the Economy of Ekiti State, the Ministry is responsible for the following Projects and Programs:

  • YESSO activities are on-going with the main objective of Establishing the Single Register of poor and Vulnerable House-hold in the State. As at now, YESSO-SOCU Office has established Single Register for Six pilot LGAs: Ido-Osi, Ado, Aiyekire, Oye, Ekiti West and Ekiti South

Be assured of our maximum cooperation – Ekiti East Senatorial District pledged

Stakeholders in Ekiti East Senatorial District, have pledged to embark
on aggressive mobilization of their community members for the success
of the 2023 National population and housing census.

This assurance was given by the representatives of Ekiti East
Senatorial District which comprise Omuo and Aiyekire Local Government
Areas on Friday during an advocacy visit by the Ekiti State Advocacy
committee to Omuo and Aiyekire Local Government Areas of the State as
part of the activities to sensitize the stakeholders about the census
exercise slated for 3rd to 7th May, 2023.

While addressing the communities from Omuo local government area, the
Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget, Economic planning and
Performance Management, Mr Niyi Adebayo who led the team said that the
aim of the visit is to sensitize the general public on the importance
of population census and the need for them to participate in the
exercise.

Adebayo stated that the outcome of the census exercise will aid
effective planning, execution of government programmes and policies
aimed at improving the lives of the citizens.

Also speaking, the Director Ekiti State Bureau of Statistics, Mrs
Dasola Ojo charged the residents to take the census exercise with
utmost importance as the enumerators will not be biased in discharging
their duties.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of Omuo Local Government, Hon
Olusegun Ojo assured that the members of their communities were fully
prepared for the exercise and will give all it takes to ensure its
success.

He thanked the state Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji for the initiative
of the advocacy visit in order to prepare the minds of the people for
the success of
the exercise in the state.

At Aiyekire local government area, the Special Adviser, Mr Niyi
Adebayo called on the people to spread the message to all the nooks
and crannies of their communities.

He explained that the use of town criers can also be introduced into
the publicity of the census exercise though in a modernized version
with the use of cars with public address systems on it to air the
message to the people.

Welcoming the team to the area, the representative of Local Government
Chairman, Mrs Felicia Dada appreciated the Governor of the state for
his efforts at ensuring the growth of the state, and prayed for more
wisdom to lead the state to greater heights.

Also contributing, the Onisin of Isinbode Ekiti, Oba Adesoji Akinyemi
pledged his support to the state government concerning the 2023 census
exercise as logistics were fully in place to ensure the success of the
exercise.

In his own statement, the chairman Aiyekire census committee, Mr. Dare
Famujimi said that all hands were on deck to ensure that everyone
participates in the exercise.

Some of the participants at the forum also pledged their readiness to
make the exercise a huge success in their areas.

 

2023 CENSUS: EKITI CENSUS COMMITTEE TOURS LGAs, SOLICITS PEOPLE’S
SUPPORT FOR EXERCISE

The Ekiti State Steering and Advocacy Committee for the 2023 National
Population and Housing Census has called on the people of the state to
make themselves available for enumeration when the exercise begins.

The committee also allayed the fears of the people over some
misgivings around the exercise, stressing that the national census was
essentially for effective socio-economic planning and development of
the country and the federating states.

The committee which was headed by the Special Adviser on Budget,
Economic Planning and Performance Management, Mr Niyi Adebayo kick
started the advocacy tour in Ado, Oye, Emure and Ise/orun Local
Government areas of the state on Wednesday.

Adebayo who led the team to Emure and Ise/Orun local government areas,
told the stakeholders in the two local government areas, comprising
community leaders, market leaders, religious leaders, leaders of
associations, town unions and youths that they have significant roles
to play in the enlightening the people on the importance of the
exercise.

He said the state government has put adequate measures in place to
ensure the success of the 2023 census exercise and would provide
necessary support to the National Population Commission in the course
of the exercise in the state.

He urged Muslim residents in the communities to allow the female
enumerators have access to their wives and daughters for proper
enumeration. He added that the 2023 census would be different from the
previous ones because only people that are seen would be counted.

In their reactions, the community leaders appreciated the Biodun
Oyebanji government for setting up the advocacy and enlightenment
committee and promised to cooperate with the enumerators as they are
now sufficiently educated on the census.

The Leader of the team that visited Oye local Government, Dr Oyebanji
Filani disabused the minds of the people who might view the exercise
as another means of imposing additional taxes, charged the people to
support the government to make a success of the census exercise.

In his address to stakeholders at a gathering at the town hall, Dr
Filani, who is the State Commissioner for Health and Human Services,
urged the residents of the local government to embrace the enumerators
and other officials of the National Population Commission (NPC) with
open arms and allow them discharge their duties effectively for the
overall good of the state.

The Chairman of the council, Hon Sunday Ajimoko advised the people to
observe all the rules of the exercise for a seamless census.

Meanwhile the people of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, have pledged to
embark on aggressive mobilisation of residents to ensure maximum
participation in the census exercise.

They made this declaration at a stakeholders’ meeting with the state
steering and Advocacy Committee in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday. The
stakeholders comprising representatives of Ewi-in-Council, market
women, leaders of Hausa, Igbira, Igbo communities, leaders of trade
and artisan unions as well as religious and political leaders.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, who
led a team to the local government, explained that the outcome of the
2023 census would aid effective economic planning and provision of
amenities aimed at improving the living conditions of the people.

Oyebode urged the residents to ensure that all the communities and
farm steads were covered during the exercise, said the state
government is collaborating with the NPC to ensure a hitch free
exercise.
Earlier, the chairman of Ado-Local Government, Hon Bosun Osaloni said
the outcome of the exercise would attract more development to the
local government and urged the people to cooperate with the
enumerators.

The Committee’s advocacy tour of the local government areas continues
on Thursday with visits to Efon, Ekiti West, Ikere, Ekiti South west,
Moba and Ilejemeje local government areas.

 

Budget Review: Adebayo charges Accounting Officers on Value Addition
…….as Ministry begins Pre-Treasury Board Meeting

The Special Adviser to Ekiti State Governor on Budget, Economic
Planning and Performance Management, Mr. Niyi Adebayo has charged the
leadership of the Civil Service to ensure Ekiti people derive value
from the proposed supplementary budget which is a fallout of the
review of the 2023 budget.

The Special Adviser gave this charge at the pre-treasury board meeting
held on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti.

Adebayo said Ekiti people can only get value from the budget when
their interest is prioritised since the government is out to serve
Ekiti people.

He charged heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government
to use the instrumentation of budget to enable the Biodun Oyebanji-led
administration achieve its agenda of shared prosperity in the State.

The Adviser asserted that the main focus of the Oyebanji
led-administration is to improve the well-being of the people.

While urging them to be more responsible in making propositions and
even as they implement the budget, Adebayo urged the senior civil
servants to discharge their duties in good faith and with high level
of professionalism.

“Indeed why we are here is to see how we can use the instrumentality
of budget to enable the Governor achieve his programme and I will like
to let you know that today’s review we will always have at the back of
our minds the six pillar of this administration”.

“Most importantly it is also good for us to know that as we runs
through the numbers and try to justify whatever we are including or
excluding, proximity and of course value for Ekiti people will be at
the heart of what we are doing because we are here to serve Ekiti make
sure that during the course of this administration, will improve the
well-being of the people,” he said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of
Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management, Mr. Olusesan
Alabi said the purpose of the meeting was to review the budget
implementation in the first five months of the year and to ensure that
the state is on the track.

Mr Alabi further explained that the revised and happy supplementary
budget would help to accommodate the critical projects embarked upon
by the State government.
