Ode High School’s New Science Laboratory Commissioned

The New Science laboratory at Ode High School.

Ekiti State government has approved ₦91 million for the procurement of science laboratory equipment for secondary schools in the state.

The State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi gave the information at the commissioning ceremony of ₦60 million worth Science laboratory at Ode High School in Gboyin Local Government donated by Star Deep water Petroleum Limited and its partners in the Agbami oil field which includes Chevron Nigeria Ltd, FAMFA Oil Ltd, Statoil, PETROBRAS and NNPC.

The Governor who was represented by the Special Adviser, Governor’s office, Chief Abiodun Akin- Fasae stressed the commitment of the present administration at lifting education in the state to an enviable height.

Governor Fayemi explained that the State Government has distributed laptop computers to students and  teachers in Secondary schools to improve the level of education in the state.

He cautioned the students against acts of vandalism, cultism and hooliganism that can distract their attention from their studies.

Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Eniola Ajayi commended the donors for the quality and standard of the project.

The commissioner who disclosed that the donors have promised to provide adequate maintenance for the laboratory noted that the gesture will allow the students compete favourably with other Science students anywhere in the world.

She charged students and teachers to avail themselves of the opportunity and also uphold a high maintenance culture as she appealed to the donors to build two more science laboratories in the North and South Education district of the state.
