Ekiti cancels Saturday’s Environmental Sanitation Exercise

 This month’s environmental sanitation exercise, billed for Saturday, March 31st will no longer  hold in the state, following its cancellation by the state Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi..

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the cancellation of the sanitation exercise is to pave way for unhindered flow of vehicular and human traffic during grand finale of the convocation ceremony and 30th anniversary of  Ekiti State University, holding same day.

The Saturday’s event at the university will feature award of higher degrees and diplomas as well as conferment of honourary doctorate degrees on some distinguished international figures, including the Vice President of Ghana, Dr John Dramani Mahama; Director General, United Nation’s Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), Dr Kandeh Yumkella and Professor Emeritus and former Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof Tekena Tamuna.

The statement however urged members of the public to continue to keep their environment clean all the time in order to avert health challenges and environmental hazards.
