Ekiti to Reward Patriotic, Industrious Corps Member, Fayemi

Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Professor Modupe Adelabu delievering her address at the opening and swearing-in ceremony for the NYSC 2013 Batch 'C' corps members deployed to Ekiti, held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ise/Orun/Emure-Ekiti.... on Thursday.

Corps members with records of outstanding performance and evidence of deep sense of patriotism in the course of their service in the Land of Honour State, Governor Kayode Fayemi said yesterday.
He spoke through her deputy, Prof Modupe Adelabu, at the opening and swearing-in of the 2013 Batch ‘C’ NYSC corps members deployed to the state at the Permanent Orientation Camp in Ise/Orun/Emure-Ekiti.
The governor told the new corps members that their predecessors have been used as veritable agents in the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), particularly in the rural areas and as well contributed immensely to the government’s drive to sensitize the
people on the dangers of HIV/AIDS pandemic.
He, however, warned the corps members to steer clear of partisan politics, reminding them that their mission in the state is purely on national assignment.
Governor Fayemi listed education, infrastructure, agriculture and health sectors among others as the areas where the services of the youth corps members during their service year.
He assured them that the government and people of Ekiti are hospitable and will appreciate and bountifully reward every effort made by patriotic members towards the development of the state.
The governor enjoined them to be focused and pay attention to various activities packaged into their orientation programmes, particularly the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development which could be alternative source of income for them in their places of primary
assignment.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Ekiti State NYSC Governing Board and Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Kayode Olaosebikan called on the corps members to obey all camp rules and regulation and cooperate with all the security outfits, and other agents and organisations that have been pulled together to make the orientation programme a huge success.
Mr. Olaosebikan used the forum to commend the governor for assisting in the provision of infrastructures which make the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp beautiful and conducive and for the prompt release of funds and other logistics support for the execution of all NYSC activities in the state.
The State NYSC Coordinator, Lady Ngozi Chukwuka disclosed that 2700 corps members were deployed to the state but only 2,350 comprising 1005 males and 1345 females have reported and duly registered for orientation.
She also expressed gratitude to the state government for its support for the scheme, particularly for the cash award to State Honours Award Winners among the 2012 Batch ‘C’ corps members.
