L-R: Deputy Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Chief Adetunji Orisalade; Deputy Governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu; wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi; her husband, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; and Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Babajide Arowosafe, during the Thanksgiving Service commemorating the 3rd anniversary of the Fayemi administration, in Ado-Ekiti.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on Sunday renewed his call on Christians in the country to play active roles in politics and not leave political decisions to charlatans.

The Governor made the call at the thanksgiving service marking the third anniversary of his administration held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Life Fountain Parish, Ado Ekiti.

Governor Fayemi stressed that politics, contrary to popular belief, is not a dirty game and believers should not leave it to those whose aim is to line their pockets with public funds.

While acknowledging God’s faithfulness to his administration, the Governor stated that the peace and development witnessed by the State is an act of God who, according to him, answered his prayers on the vision to renew Ekiti State.

“The lord has been good to us a state and as a government. We thank Him for the peace and development that the state is witnessing, for the future that is hopeful rather than hopeless. It is only prayer that can give us ceaseless renewal and all that we want our state to become. We all have a duty to serve God wherever we are, service to people must be priorities, and that children of God must engage in politics so that charlatans don’t take the saddle of power.

“ It is the message that we think we should pass across now. Politics is not a dirty game. We shouldn’t leave to those who want to use it to line their own pocket”, Fayemi said.

Earlier in his sermon, the Provincial Pastor of the church, Ola Adejubee, had stressed the need for Christians to give thanks to God for the great things He has done.

The cleric  who said that God uses thankful people to positively impact their society, stated that God has been using each citizen, and not only government, to transform Ekiti State in the last three years.

Pastor Adejubee expressed admiration for Fayemi’s servant-leadership style, saying that people should emulate the diligence and hardworking attitude of the Governor and shun the old attitude of handling government work with levity.

He prophesied that God would elevate Ekiti even as the state is already becoming the envy of all.

In attendance at the service were the Wife of the Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, Deputy Governor, Prof Modupe Adelabu; members of the state executive council, House of Assembly and National Assembly members as well as members of the diplomatic community , top civil servants and party loyalists.

The thanksgiving service was followed by a state luncheon at the Adetiloye hall, Trade Fair, Ado Ekiti, with a grand performance by one of the State cultural Ambassadors, Michael Omoshilade popularly called Micho Ade.
