Ekiti Deputy Governor To FRSC officials – Be Forthright

Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Professor Modupe Adelabu addressing Officers of the state Sector Command of the FRSC who paid her a courtesy visit in her office in Ado.

Ekiti State Deputy Governor Prof Modupe Adelabu yesterday charged officials of the Ekiti Sector Command Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to remain incorruptible and sustain the virtue of diligence to sustain their respect among the people.
She gave the charge while receiving State Sector Commander Rindom Kumven, who led his men on a courtesy visit to her office in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
According to the deputy governor, the intervention of the corps marshals has drastically reduced accident rates on Nigerians roads.
She said the state government will like to partner with FRSC to form Road Safety Clubs in both primary and secondary schools in the state to sharpen the skills of children on simple road signs and safety rules, adding that such education will prevent them from falling victims of road accidents.
Mrs. Adelabu also urged the FRSC to organize sensitization programmes for drivers to build their capacity and refresh their memories on traffic rules as this will prevent drivers from causing carnages with careless driving and disregard for road sign and safety regulations.
In his earlier remark, the Sector Commander lauded the state government for the infrastructural revolution that is going on across the state, particularly the rehabilitation and construction of road network.
He said the good road network provided by the government and the high literacy level in the state have drastically reduced road accidents.
Besides, Mr. Kumven said the road network has made traffic control and enforcement stress-free for his men in the state.
The sector commander, who promised that the FRSC in the state will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that road crashes are reduced to the barest minimum in the state, urged the government assist it with an operational vehicle for the new Unit of the state command located at Itawure to monitor the Aramoko – Efon axis to further curb road crashes.
He said the vehicles will also be used to convey accidents victims to health facilities for treatment.
