Ekiti Pays Furniture Allowances Of Past Council Officials

No fewer than 143 past public office holders in thirteen out of the sixteen local government areas of Ekiti State, who served between June
2011 and February 2012 starting from yesterday, began to receive cheques to cover their furniture allowances in the first phase of the payment, aimed at assisting them live more comfortably.

Deputy Governor of the State whose office supervises the local government areas, Prof. Modupe Adelabu while kicking off the payment in Omuo-Ekiti, headquarters of Ekiti East local government area yesterday said the government was committed to fulfilling its responsibilities to the people, including those who served in public offices.

Explaining that the amount to be collected by individual beneficiaries varies because some local government had effected payment to some percentages, the deputy governor assured that the present government in the state was determined to reward hard work.

Beneficiaries in the first phase, to be paid before the end of this week include those who served in Ekiti East, Gboyin, Emure, Ikere,
Ekiti South West, Efon, Ado, Irepodun/Ifelodun local government areas.

Others include Ikole, Moba, Ilejemeje, Oye, Ido-Osi. Those whose payments are being processed for the second phase, due to lateness in
submission of returns to the Ministry of Local government are Ise/ Orun, Ijero and Ekiti West.

Chairman of the local government, Mr.  Sunday Atobaje while thanking the deputy government and by extension the state government said the
gesture was a clear manifestation of the Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s commitment to raising the standard of living of the people of the state.

Saying the government was extending the dividends of democracy to every nooks and crannies, Atobaje said it was the reason that the
entire people of Ekiti East local government were solidly behind the ACN led government.
