Ekiti State Governor, and renowned poet, Prof Niyi Osundare will be addressing the first set of participants of the Ikogosi Graduate Summer School (IGSS), at the Warm Spring Resort, Ikogosi Ekiti on Monday, as Ekiti State commences the first ever Summer School programme for graduate and research students.
Prof Osundare of the University of New Orleans, USA, will give the keynote address as Governor Fayemi formally declares open the two- week programme which seeks to equip participants drawn from different universities with research skills, writing skills and knowledge sharing by a cream of distinguished scholars from Nigerian and foreign universities.
According to a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, participants for the 2013 class, who are mainly post graduate students, are drawn from a highly competitive process which started earlier in March.
They are to work on different topics during the programme, which attracts renowned scholars like World Bank Consultant, Prof Ladipo Adamolekun; Prof Bayo Olukoshi of the UN African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP); Dr Ebenezer Obadare of Kansas University, USA; Dr Wale Adebanwi of the University of California at Davis; Prof Oko Obono of the University of Ibadan; and the duo of Dr Biodun Alao and Dr Funmi Olonisakin of the Kings College, UK.
Aside the mentoring opportunity by distinguished scholars, the participants are to be exposed to some specialised fields including Gender Study, Peace Building, Security Sector Governance, Political Economy, Literature and Society, Grants and Proposal writings.
