Ekiti State government has given cash assistance to the Hausa/Fulani communities that were affected during the fracas between the two communities which led to the destruction of properties while some people were also injured.
The State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi who handed out the cash, through the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ganiyu Owolabi, said it was in fulfilment of his promise to provide succour for the people affected by the dispute which broke out in Ipao- Ekiti, Ayede- Ekiti and Ilawe- Ekiti in Ikole, Oye and Ekiti South West local government areas of the state respectively.
The Governor restated his commitment to the safety of lives and property of residents regardless of tribe, culture or party affiliation and urged members of the Hausa and Fulani communities to live in harmony with indigent citizens as well as settlers.
He stated that the extension of the social security scheme to members of the Hausa/Fulani community is a testimony that the Dr. Fayemi-led administration is committed to the well-being of all and sundry.
Speaking on behalf of the affected communities, the Chairman of the Hausa community, Alhaji Adamu Imam commended Governor Fayemi for fulfilling his promises to provide succour to the affected people; saying that this shows that he is indeed the Governor of all people.
Imam pledged harmonious relationship and the cooperation of the Hausa/Fulani with Ekiti people.
