Ekiti State Government has expressed its readiness to partner construction companies with new innovations that could enhance the durability of all roads being constructed across the State.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti while inspecting a road being constructed in the premises of the State Ministry of Works with the new technology brought by a construction company, Landlock Nigeria, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr Sola Adebayo reiterated the commitment of the Dr. Kayode Fayemi-led administration to making all the parts of the State accessible by durable motorable roads by 2014.
The Commissioner said the Ministry’s internal road is being used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the new technology before the Government buys into the innovation and introduces same to major roads.
Adebayo who also spoke on other ongoing road projects assured that the roads would be completed and delivered on schedule.
Speaking on the new technology, the contractor, Engr Tunde Ogundana explained that the latest technology is devoid of the use of asphalt; saying that a fluid specially formulated to make the road more durable is employed.
Ogundana added that the techniques is already in use in the United States of America, Ghana, Uganda and other countries in Africa; saying that the demonstration is to encourage the State to embrace the improved technology to actualise its vision on durable roads.
