Education Commissioner Warns Supervisors, Teachers Against Exam Malpractises.

Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Kehinde Ojo has warned Supervisors and Teachers invigilating the West African School Certificate Examinations (WASCE) in the state against engaging in any act that could aid examination malpractices.

Mr. Ojo who gave the warning while monitoring the on-going WASC Examinations in Ekiti South West and Irepodun Ifelodun Local
Government Areas, stressed that the present administration has zero-tolerance for examination malpractice.
The Commissioner advised all stakeholders to uphold the integrity and credibility of the examination by complying with all stipulated rules and regulations guiding its conduct.

Urging the students to study well in order to pass the examination inflying colour and justify government’s huge investment in the education sector, he enjoined parents not to leave the future of their children in the hands of the teachers alone.

Mr. Ojo who was highly impressed at the healthy and conducive atmosphere in all schools visited, commended the teachers for maintaining discipline in their schools.

However, warning against truancy and absenteeism, the Commissioner directed principals of United High School and Oniwe High School both in Ilawe Ekiti who were not at their duty posts when the monitoring team got there to report to his office.

He noted that the Operation Renovate All Schools in Ekiti (ORASE) has indeed improved the sitting arrangements of students writing external examinations and called on contractors who have not completed their projects to expedite action.

While specifically appealing to the contractor handling Oniwe High School hall, Ilawe – Ekiti to speed up action and open the school hall for the on-going examinations, the Commissioner commended the peaceful conduct and the sitting arrangement of students in Corpus Christ’ College, Ilawe-Ekiti.
