Ekiti Contingent To National Schools’ Sports Festival Wins 47 Medals

Ekiti State contingent to the just concluded National Schools’ Sport Festival held in Port Harcourt won a total of 47 medals at the 2-week sporting fiesta.
The team comprising of 140 boys and girls including officials from various secondary schools across the State, competed in 9 sporting activities.
The Head of the State Contingent, and Director of Sport in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Olayinka Ajibola stated that, the Athletes won 4 gold,  3 silver in Table Tennis; 5 gold, 1 silver, 4 bronze in gymnastics while they won 4 silver, 2 bronze and 1 gold in judo.
According to Mr. Ajibola,the contingents also won 2 gold, 2 bronze in Tennis; 7 Bonze  & 3 gold in weight lifting while 2 silver, 2 bronze and 1 gold were won by the athletes in Karate.
He explained that the contingent won 1 silver, 1bronze in Athletics, 1silver in handball and 1 bronze in Badminton.
While commending members of the team for their spectacular performance, the Director said the Fayemi administration has promoted sporting activities in schools across the state, adding that the performance of the state contingent is a clear testimony of the sports development programme of the present administration in the state.
