The Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Modupe Adelabu has re-affirmed the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to the provision of adequate infrastructure and instructional materials for all public schools in the state.
Professor Adelabu made the affirmation in Ado-Ekiti at a one day interactive session/workshop for the local government Education Secretaries (ES) from the 16 Local Governments and Head-teachers of all the SUBEB Model Primary Schools and Pilot schools in the state.
The SUBEB boss noted that the forum was organised to share the success stories recorded by the state in producing the best SUBEB
Model School in Nigeria for 2012 as well as the best teacher in 2011 and the second best teacher in 2012.
She charged the Education Secretaries and Head-teachers to justify the confidence reposed in them by sustaining the good record.
While commending the Head-teacher of SUBEB Model School, Ado Ekiti, Mrs. Taiwo Ala whose school emerged the best Model Primary School in Nigeria and Mrs. Rachael Oluwafemi, the second best-teacher in Nigeria for 2012, for a job well done, Prof. Adelabu charged the head-teachers to endeavour to emulate the hard work and commitment to duty of their two outstanding colleagues.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board Dr. Eunice Dada told the participants to sensitize the
people of their communities on the various programmes initiated by SUBEB in the out gone year.
Among the programmes are: the trade fair, children meet your Governor, Open-day, Village meetings with parents, Flag-off of pupils enrolment/registration for 2012/2013 academic session.
One of the resource persons at the workshop who is also a former Chairman of Ekiti State Chapter of Association of Primary School Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), Elder Emmanuel Faluse said teachers would be able to perform creditably if they demonstrate interest and commitment in their daily routine.
Elder Faluse urged the teachers to ensure that they prepare good and complete lesson notes for effective teaching.
