Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has commiserated with the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, over the fire that gutted parts of his palace last Tuesday.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, Fayemi urged the revered monarch not to be discouraged by the inferno but to take heart and remain strong in spirit.
He urged Oba Adeyemi to see the incident as “blessing in disguise” and continue to play the roles of a bridge builder, counselor and father to political office holders for which he is known.
The Governor expressed regrets over artifacts and other valuables that were lost to the fire that razed the Alaafin’s palace.
Fayemi thank God that no life was lost in the incident noting that it would have been more depressing if the inferno had claimed any human life.
He further expressed concern on the unending spate of fire incidents being witnessed of recent in many parts of the country, calling for more vigilance among the citizens and timely intervention by the relevant agencies.
