EKSG Pays Salaries Arrears Of Local Government Workers

The Secretary to the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) in the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Seun Babalola has confirmed the payment of the September and October salary of the Local Government workers that was delayed due to the recently settled trade dispute between the union and the state government.

The payment of the 2 months salaries arrears was based on the agreement reached between the state government and the leadership of NULGE.

Mr. Babalola who expressed delight over the development described the gesture as a display of commitment of the State Government to the general well-being of its workforce.

He however appealed to the state government to choose people that understand the grassroots to serve as members of the recently dissolved Local government Service Commission Board.

The NULGE Local Government Staff Loans Board Secretary, Mr. Afolabi Olusola also expressed appreciation to the State Government for taking the giant stride at fulfilling the promise made and for promising to start the payment of the new minimum wage in November.
He pledged the continued commitment and dedication to duties by the workers. Olusola also called for appointment of true democrats as new members
of the Local Government Service Commission.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Local government Service Commission, Mr. Sunday Fatoba described government’s gesture as a display of its commitment to the welfare of its workers.
Mr. Fatoba therefore enjoined the workers to reciprocate the gesture by being dedicated to their duties.
