Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has extolled the virtues of the late Mrs. Sheila Solarin, widow of social critic and educationist, the late Dr. Tai Siolarin, describing her as a selfless woman who dedicated her entire life to the cause of humanity.

Fayemi in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, also credited the late educationist for sustaining the landmark legacy of her late husband- Mayflower School, Ikenne, which, according to him, has trained many Nigerians who have become great in different fields.

He described the late Sheila as a virtuous woman, an amiable personality, humble to a fault and deeply committed to the cause of education and development.

The Governor recalled that the deceased used her entire lifetime to campaign for a better and egalitarian society through advocacy and philanthropy.

He added that although the deceased was not a Nigerian by birth, she contributed immensely to the development of her husband’s community and the country and showed love to the common man.

Fayemi said the best way to immortalize Sheila is to sustain the legacies she stood for in her lifetime.

“Our hearts go out to the Solarin family, the Ikenne community, the government and people of Ogun State on this great loss”, he said, praying that God will give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
