Ekiti State Government has inaugurated Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Technical Evaluation Sub-Committee in line with the MDG’s revised Conditional Grant Scheme operational manual.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Ado-Ekiti, the State Commissioner for Integration and Inter-government Affairs, Mrs Bunmi Dipo-Salami explained that the establishment of the sub-committee was to fast track the implementation of MDG programmes in the state.
Mrs Dipo-Salami said the members of the Technical Evaluation sub-committee were drawn from a pool of professionals from relevant ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state.
She added that key LGA staff and the Technical Assistants (TAs) of the participating LGAs were included to ensure adequate representation and synergy to accomplish MDGs set targets in the state as encapsulated in the 8-point Transformation Agenda of this administration.
According to her, the committee is saddled with the responsibilities of implementing the set targets as stipulated in the operational manual which include examination and evaluation of company profiles, bids and tenders submitted by companies on MDGs projects, short listing and recommending qualified contractors among those that applied for MDGs job and giving technical support to the MDGs project support unit (MDGs PSU) to enhance efficient and effective service delivery.
Responding on behalf of the members of the sub committee, Engr Ajibola appreciated the government’s gesture and promised that they would work as a team to guarantee improvement in the quality and execution of MDGs projects in the state as well as ensure the timely implementation of such projects.
