Ekiti Assures Residents Of Security At Sallah

The Ekiti State Government has assured residents of adequate security throughout the period of Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.

The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Funminiyi Afuye, said in a statement on Sunday that adequate security has been put in place to ensure peaceful Sallah holidays.

Afuye explained that the Dr. Kayode Fayemi-led administration is collaborating with security agencies to ensure safety of lives and property. He urged the people of the state to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious movement to the relevant authorities.

The commissioner congratulated Muslims in the state for the successful completion of Ramadan fast which lasted for 30 days. He described Eid-el-Fitri as a “celebration of virtues of humility sacrifice, patience, selflessness learnt during Ramadan.”

Afuye advised Muslims to celebrate Sallah with moderation and use the occasion as an opportunity for sober reflection.

“The Government of Ekiti State under the leadership of Dr. Kayode Fayemi has put machinery in motion to ensure security of our people during the long Sallah holidays.

“We urge residents of the state not to entertain any fear as the major praying grounds and places of leisure will be adequately protected to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

“The Government of Ekiti State is collaborating with the relevant security agencies to ensure a peaceful celebration of the Eid-el-Fitri”, Afuye said.
