EKSG Establishes 16 Remedial Schools

In a bid to get rid of incidences of examination malpractices and thecso called ‘miracle centres’ in the state, the Ekiti State Government has approved the establishment of 16 remedial schools with each of the 16 council areas having one remedial school..
The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Funminiyi Afuye while addressing Journalists in Ado-Ekiti, stated that the
remedial schools will avail students who failed the WAEC exams the opportunity to be taught over again before retaking the exams.
Mr. Afuye also noted that the state executive council approved the bill to review the existing law on registration of business centres and artisans to ensure that no arbitrariness is involved in the charges on Business people and Artisans in the state.
Also approved was the award of the contract for the construction of Ero bridge at Ikun Ekiti at a sum of One hundred and thirty six million, eight hundred and twenty six thousand, six hundred and forty four hundred, and  fifty kobo (N136,826,644.50 )to channel the river
in order to prevent erosion from affecting the community and the Ikun-Otun road.
The Council also approved the contract and consultancy services of a new Government House on the Ayoba Hill at the cost of over two billion
naira and over one hundred and nine million naira respectively to enable the Government build a befitting State House.
Afuye also disclosed that as a result of the Governor’s recent visit to the Chinese Embassy, two indigenes of the State, Mr. Micheal Adegoke Ogunlade from Ikoro-Ekiti and Mr. Peter Temitope Omotosho from Ikole Ekiti have been awarded scholarship to pursue their Masters Degrees in Mechanical and Electrical/Electronics Engineering from the Tianging University of Technology, China on the recommendation of the State Government.
The Government’s Spokesman also disclosed that the State Council approved the renovation and rehabilitation of Women Development and
Acquisition Centre at Igede Ekiti in the sum of fifty two million, five hundred and ninety six thousand, five hundred and seventy one hundred, twenty five kobo (N52,596,571.25).
