The Ekiti State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Hon. Funminiyi Afuye has described the late Journalist and Broadcaster, Mr. Chris Fajemifo as a hardworking , intelligent and resourceful officer who died in active service.
Hon. Afuye stated this during the condolence visit by top Management staff of the Ministry to the widow of the deceased. He noted that the accolades trailing Mr. Fajemifo after his demise was a testimony that he lived a glorious life worthy of emulation.
He charged the widow, Mrs Bola Fajemifo and the children of the deceased, Tope, Femi and Oyin as well as other relatives to take solace in the fact that Mr. Fajemifo left a mark that will be a reference point for a very long time, saying he would be remembered for his forthrightness, doggedness and honesty.
The Ekiti State Government spokesman therefore charged the children of the deceased to build on the legacies left by their father by being exceptional in their studies, noting that they have bright future ahead of them in spite of the temporary set back.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry , Princess Adekunbi Obaisi encouraged the widow not to lose hope, saying she will meet again with her husband on the resurrection day.
In his remarks ,The State Director of Information Services, Mr. Kola Ajumobi noted that the Ministry of Information will work hand in hand with the family of the deceased to ensure a befitting burial for him and to facilitate speedy release of his official entitlements.
Mr. Chris Fajemifo, who died in a ghastly motor accident in Akure, Ondo state was until his death, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the Ministry.
He was a former director of News and Current Affairs at the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, a former Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti State Council and a former President of the Students Union of the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
