Irepodun/Ifelodun LG Distributes Farm Implements To Farmers

Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti-State has distributed farm implements and crash-helmets worth  over 1 million naira to farmers and motor-cyclists  in the area.
Speaking while distributing the items at Igede-Ekiti, the Care-taker Chairman of the Local Government, Major Tajudeen Awe (rtd) said the gesture was aimed at improving crop production in the agrarian zone and as well boost the security of lives of the people  who depend largely on motorcycles for their day-today activities.
Over 1000 crash- helmets, 500 cutlasses, 300 packs of cocoa pesticides, 1000 cocoa seedlings, palm seedlings and 500 packs of maize seedlings were distributed at the well attended ceremony.
Major Tajudeen who said he was elated by the enthusiasm showed by the people expressed hope that food production will witness tremendous improvement  this farming season adding that  efforts were in top gear to procure additional 3,000 palm seedlings in order to make the area a
centre of  palm oil production.
In his remarks , the Head of Department for Agriculture in the Local Government, Mr. Omoniyi Ayodele who lauded the initiative described the Local government Chairman as a courageous  leader who is out to better the lots of his people.
He said that the gesture would boost the 8-point agenda of the government which has modernised agriculture and food production as one of its  goals.
He tasked the farmers to reciprocate government gesture by ensuring optimal use of the farm inputs
