Governor Kayode Fayemi has said that his administration would continue to assist her indigenes in need whatsoever their situation in life
Governor Fayemi said this in Lagos at the handing over of a brand new Toyota Avensis car to Navy Commodore Oladipupo Ayeni (rtd), the first Military Administrator of Bayelsa State, who has been consigned to the wheel chair due to an illness which occurred shortly after his appointment as Military Administrator of Bayelsa State in 1996.
The Governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Political & Economic Affairs Department of the Governor’s office, Mr. Olusola Dada stated that the car gift was to show Commodore Ayeni that he is not forgotten by the Government and the people of Ekiti State.
The Governor stated that though Commodore Ayeni was once a Military Administrator, he needed to be assisted, supported and cared for as a leader, adding that this is not a departure from the culture, heritage and norms of the Yoruba land to care for the needy.
He said Ekiti people realized the worth of Commodore Ayeni and his landmark achievements in Bayelsa State, saying that the car gift was a way to show that Ekiti are with him in prayers.
The Governor stated that Government had embarked on programmes aimed at ensuring that poverty is banished in the society and had also put machinery in place to ensure that those that had served the people do not suffer in their later year
He highlighted the 8-point agenda of this administration to include man- power development, the youth empowerment scheme, the social security scheme, infrastructure and modernization of Agric, the Y-CAD, with tourism development to make the people happy.
Navy Commodore Ayeni (Rtd) who was emotionally laden expressed his appreciation through his Personal Assistant; Mr. Oluwaranmi, he commended Governor Kayode Fayemi for the kind gesture.
While expressing satisfaction that his people have not forgotten him, Commodore Ayeni prayed vehemently for the success of Governor Kayode Fayemi’s administration.
