Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has reiterated the commitment of his administration to an all encompassing participatory governance in the state.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti at the inauguration ceremony of newly elected members of the State executive of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Chairmen of the party in the 16 local government areas of the state, Governor Fayemi said that political appointees in the state have been directed to regularly attend meetings at their ward level.
Fayemi stressed that such meetings would enable the political office holders sensitize people at the grassroot and obtain genuine feedback that can update government on the yearning and aspirations of the people.
According to him, “There should be accountability in what we do. At the local level and the state headquarter. There should be transparency and our people should be able to ask questions”.
The Governor who lauded the contribution of the outgoing party chairmen, enjoined the new party leaders to consolidate on the achievements of their predecessors.
Governor Fayemi also expressed confidence in the ability of the new helmsmen who he described as people of character and integrity to achieve success in their new assignment, charging them to carry every body along to enhance their success.
“Please carry everybody along. This party is not a personal property.It is the property of all of us. Carry the elders along, make sure that they have the elders forum you attend. Carry the women along, carry the youth along. Carry your ward chairmen along because they are the ones who will act as your anchor at the different wards”, Fayemi stated.
