Ekiti To Establish 5 New Fire Stations

Ekiti State Government is to establish five fire stations as part of efforts to strengthen the disaster management capability of the state govenment.

The State Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Wole Olugboji who made this known at a forum in Ado-Ekiti also said that more fire fighting engines would equally be procured to strengthen the State Fire Services.

Dr. Olugboji used the forum to distribute handsets to the State Director of Fire Services and Officers in charge of Ikere and Ikole Fire Stations.

He announced the GSM numbers of the handsets to include: Ado Fire State- 07069582746, 08057651983 and Ikole Fire Station 07069582273, 080957651948.

The Commissioner enjoined members of the public to make use of the numbers in case of fire and other emergencies.

Meanwhile, the 2nd edition of Ekiti State Merit Award would hold in October 2012.

Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Wole Oluigboji announced this during the inaugural meeting set up to organise the Merit Award Ceremony.

According to him, this year’s edition would cater for the less privileged and others who have contributed their quota to the growth and development of the State.

He explained that the selection of the award winners would be strictly based on merit.
