Ekiti State Government has promised to relocate the State General Hospital at Ilawe Ekiti in Ekiti South West Local Government Area of the state to a more conducive environment.
The State Commissioner for Health, Professor Benjamin Olusola Fasubaa made the promise during an advocacy visit to the Alawe of Ilawe, Oba Ajibade Alabi in his Palace at Ilawe Ekiti.
Professor Fasubaa who congratulated the monarch on his apppointment, expressed concern over the dilapidated structures at the present site of the hospital, calling for urgent allocation of land for a new general hospital in the town.
The Commissioner appealed to women in the area to utilize government hospitals and health centres rather than faith and herbal homes for child delivery.
Professor Fasubaa also called for community supervision of government hospitals and health centres, urging Local Government Chairmen in the state to help provide security, gardeners, and other logistics to health centres.
The Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi expressed appreciation to the state government for deeming it fit to relocate the hospital describing the move as a welcome development.
Oba Adebanji pledged that the community would provide a suitable site for the new hospital.
