Ekiti State Government has commenced the distribution of 100,000 school bags to all secondary school students in the 16 Local Government Areas of the State.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Eniola Ajayi who made this known while speaking with newsmen said the gesture was to convey the message of Mr. Governor to the students and to make life easier for them.
According to her, the present administration places the interest of the school pupils at heart and will continue to do everything to make them comfortable.
The Commissioner advised the students to complement the efforts of the State Government by facing their studies to become great in future.
Dr. Ajayi, who urged the students to take care of the bags told them to handle the bags carefully to avoid getting it spoilt.
She announced that the distribution exercise which has commenced in Ado ,Ilejemeje and Emure Local Government Areas noting that the distribution continues till Friday.
One of the Teachers, Mr. Areola Bamidele from AUD Secondary School, Ado-Ekiti, who collected bags to be delivered to his pupils thanked the State Government for the gesture.
Mr. Bamidele described the gesture as a relief for the students noting that many of them carry their books to school with bare hands.
