Construction firms handling various road projects in Ekiti State have been advised to set up soil testing Laboratories at their sites so that road materials can be property tested before being used.
The Chairman of the State Project Monitoring Committee (PMC), Chief Ranti Adebisi who gave the charge while inspecting some on-going road projects in Ekiti North Senatorial District attributed the premature failure of roads in Nigeria to the use of inappropriate soil and materials.
Chief Adebisi gave kudos to the Contractor handling the rehabilitation of Oye – Ayede – Otun road for setting up a soil testing laboratory at the site urging other contractors to take a cue from him.
Responding, the Project Site Engineer, Engr. Okeke Kenechukwu assured that the road project would be delivered on schedule.
He disclosed that his company has been patronizing people of the host communities for the supply of labour and road materials used on the as directed by the State Government.
At Ilumoba – Ijesa-Isu – Ikole road, the PMC boss frowned at the slow pace of work on the project urging the contractor to brace up.
Mr. Sunday Owoeye who is an indigene of Ikole – Ekiti hailed Governor Fayemi for his developmental efforts and called on the people to support his administration.
