The Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance, Mr Dapo Kolawole has stressed the need for all local government staff to complete the on-going verification exercise taking place simultaneously in the sixteen Local Government Areas of the state.
The objective of the verification exercise is to update Account Numbers, Bank names, grade level and other records of the council workers preparatory to the payment of the new minimum wage.
The Commissioner said that the new salary region would cost the state an additional 300 million which Governor Fayemi has graciously approved. The strike embarked on by the LG staff led to the delay in payment of their salaries.
On the newly introduced e-payment of salaries, Kolawole said the new system would allow real-time on line payment of salaries that would ensure immediate payment into individual accounts.
