As part of efforts at ensuring rapid response to emergency situations, the Ekiti State Government has distributed First Aid kits to primary and secondary schools as well as government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) and paramilitary organizations in the state.

Distributing the customized kits to the beneficiaries in Ado Ekiti, the State Commissioner for Health, Professor Olusola Fasubaa explained that the government’s gesture was to guarantee necessary first aid treatment when required and prevent avoidable death.

Professor Fasubaa stressed that first aid kits would ease the treatment of injuries and sudden illness before the arrival of professional medical care.

According to him, the kits could be used to take care of small wounds, sprain, minor burn and fractures, emphasizing that the focus is to make the injured person as comfortable as possible and prevent deterioration of the victim’s condition before the arrival of professional help.

Reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to the general wellbeing of the people, the Commissioner described the provision of the kits as a display of the Governor’s passion for the provision of optimum healthcare delivery in the state in spite of its meager resources.

He urged all beneficiaries to justify government’s huge investment in the health sector by judiciously utilizing the health facilities in the state, stressing that the kits are safe and easy to use as they contain only non- prescription drugs that could be purchased over the counter.

A teacher from one of the benefiting schools, CAC Grammar School, Efon Alaaye, Mr. Victor Amele who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the state government for its efforts at making life more meaningful for the people.

Mr. Amele pledged that the first aid kits would be judiciously utilized.
