Committee On Creation Of Additional Local Government Areas In Ekiti State

In a bid to meet the yearnings of the good people of Ekiti State on requests and agitation for the creation of additional Local Government Areas in the State in line with Subsection (3) of section 8 of the 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria on the creation of Local Government Areas, His Excellency, the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi has approved the constitution of a Committee to handle this all important assignment.

2.  TERMS OF REFERENCE. The terms of reference of the Committee are as follows;
i.  To commence the procedure for the creation of additional Local Government Area(s) out of the existing          ones in the State in line with the provisions of the constitution;
ii. To make extensive consultations with communities and their leaders;
iii. To invite written/oral  memoranda and make recommendations to the Government;
iv. To provide boundary adjustments where necessary;
v. To advise government on any other issues relating to the exercise as appropriate.

3. Interested Communities are hereby invited to submit memoranda to the Committee on the Creation of   Additional   Local Government Areas in Ekiti State on or before Friday 28th February, 2014.

4. The contents of the memorandum shall include the following:-
(1)   Population
(2)   Internally Generated Revenue
(3)   Natural Resources
(4)   Accessibility
(5)   Landmass
(6)   Traditional History
(7)   Homogeneity
(8)  Contiguity
(9)  Consensus as to the Local Council Area headquarters

5.  Interested communities are to submit 20 hard copies of their memoranda and a soft copy to the Committee at:

6. Documents should be submitted to the Secretariat of the Committee at the Ekiti State House of Assembly  Service Commission, (Old House of Assembly Complex) along Saliu Adeoti Drive, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
