Ekiti To Hold Maternal Neo-Natal And Child Health Week

The 2nd round of the Maternal Neo-natal and Children Health Week (MNCH) will hold in Ekiti State between 1st and 7th December, 2012.

The Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA) Dr. Sule Lawal who made this known during a meeting with the State Team on Health in Ado Ekiti, said the focus of the programme will include: distribution of insecticide treated nets, application of vitamin A supplement to children of 0-59 months old and provision of counselling and testing unit for nursing mothers.
He said anti-malaria drugs would also be distributed to children during the 7- day event, while immunisation of infants would also take place during the programme.
The PHCDA boss explained that Ministry of Information, Education, Local Government Ministry, Women Affair and 6 other line Ministry will be fully involved in the exercise.
All the primary health care facilities in the state would serve as centres for the programme, all health workers are urged to work assiduously and sensitise people in order to achieve the desired objective.
