Ekiti State Government has said its commitment to building the best civil service in the country through local and international capacity building training programmes that will empower its work force and make it compete favourably well with its counterparts anywhere in the world.
The State Deputy Governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu made the assertion while playing host to the President and Council members of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), who paid a courtesy visit to her office in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday.
Prof. Adelabu pointed out that, Education and Human Capital development, as one of the 8- Points Agenda of the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi, is a clear indication that the administration has a clear focus and plan for building a robust civil service which is the machinery for good governance.
Commending the leadership and members of the Institute for the critical roles the council has played in capacity building of the management cadre of Nigeria work force, she said the state government will collaborate with the institute by sponsoring delegates to its training programmes to improve their managerial skills.
Earlier in his address, the President and Chairman of Council of the NIM, Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole, commiserated with the state government on the demise of the former Deputy Governor, Mrs. Funmi Olayinka and expressed his belief that the appointment of Prof. Adelabu will fill the vacuum left by the departed.
Dr. Olawale-Cole commended Governor Fayemi on the visible transformation that has been taking place since he assumed office, adding that the massive rehabilitation process of the existing infrastructure and development of new ones in both urban and rural areas of the state are clear evidence that his administration means well for the state.
He said one of the reasons for the visit was to appraise NIM’s contribution to nation building and to seek ways the state government and the institute can collaborate in a mutually rewarding way.
