Arrangements are in top gear to computerize the Registry filing system at the Local Government Service Commission towards ensuring better service delivery and efficiency.
The Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Chief Ranti Adebisi dropped this hint while declaring open a 2-day workshop organized for Registry Staff of the Local Governments.
Chief Adebisi stressed the importance of the Registry Department in any organization, adding that it is in recognition of the role of the department to the overall success of entire system that government decided to make the Registries ICT compliant.
According to him, government’s records capture information used in protecting the rights and interests of government’s businesses, citizens, historical and cultural knowledge about issues, places and events, emphasizing that Registries particularly in the Local Government settings, have been designated as archives.
Positing that a well structured Registry would ensure good stewardship and public accountability, Chief Adebisi assured that government would leave no stone unturned at empowering its workforce and training them to face the challenges of preserving important records while legally and appropriately disposing off stale ones.
He charged workers to reciprocate government’s gesture by taking advantage of opportunity provided by government to acquire knowledge and tap from the wealth of experience of the facilitators as well as actively participate in all interactive session towards achieving the desired goal.
In his remarks, one of the participants at the workshop, Ms Omotayo Folasade lauded the Fayemi led administration for efforts at improving the lots of its workers.
Folasade however called for prompt implementation of the workshop’s communiqué.
