Ekiti Commences Mining Of Quartzite

Ekiti State Government has commenced the mining of the Quartzite Deposit at Itawure in Efon Local Government Area of the State.
The State Commissioner for Commerce, Industries and Cooperatives, Otunba Reim Bodunrin said the development was in fulfilment of Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s resolve to develop the solid mineral sector in the state.

Otunba Bodunrin said the State Government had set up Fountain Solid Mineral Development Company early this year to serve as a driver for the development of Ekiti people.
The Commissioner who assured continuity of the mining operation in the site through the assistance of the professionals in the mining industry said Ekiti State could derive its wealth from solid minerals.

He called on the people of the area to cooperate with the workers as this industry would provide jobs and other benefits to members of the host community.
Earlier, the Caretaker Chairman of Efon Local Government, Dr. Adio Folayan commended the effort of the present administration geared towards making the state the fastest growing economy in Africa.
He warned private individuals working on the site against illegal operations but work for the success of the Government as the mining operation is expected to generate revenue for the Local Government and the State.
The General Manager of Fountain Solid Mineral Development Company, Mr. Kayode Ogundipe in his address lauded the vision of Dr. Fayemi who
has uncovered other sources of wealth for the all-round development in the state.
The Alaaye of Efon-Alaaye, Oba Emmanuel Aladejare commended the state government for the unprecedented step which would according to him
would boost the economy of the area. He assured the State Government of the support of his people in its vision to utilise available resources to develop the state.
Quartzite solid mineral is useful for multidimensional purposes such as beautification of buildings and public places just like gem stones.
