Mrs. Funmi Olayinka, Ekiti State Deputy Governor , has said the state government above other things wished that handlers of the Five kilometer roads project across the sixteen local government area of Ekiti see themselves as partners in progress rather than as businessmen trying to maximize profit.

Speaking while inspecting extent of works done in Omuo Ekiti on Monday, the deputy governor declared that some of the contractors have really disappointed government by the pace at which they are going about the jobs given to them and for which monies have been paid.

In explaining that the government has confidence in some of them to deliver to time, standard jobs, meant to benefit the people, she reminded them that majority of them were Ekiti indigenes and advised
them to execute jobs that they would not be stoned for.

was observed in the execution of the jobs.

Demanding that the contractor in charge of the Odo Oro road project be brought before her as soon as he was sighted, she emphasized that the State government was committed to delivering all road projects to the people at the planned deadline.
She urged residents to take ownership of the projects and monitor them as they move on to be able to report whatever issues not clear to them to government.

Speaking on the projects in his Community, the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, Oba Ademola Ajakaye thanked Governor Kayode Fayemi for his unequal initiative and strategy of ensuring infrastructural development at the grassroots. Oba Ajakaye implored the government to ensure regular inspection and supervision of the contractors to ensure that the jobs are done to specification and completed as at when due.
