Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has congratulated President Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone as he is sworn in for a second term in office in Freetown on Friday.

Fayemi who was among world leaders that graced the colourful inauguration ceremony in Freetown, said Koroma’s  re-election for a second term in office was a demonstration of the confidence the people of Sierra Leone repose in him, following his sterling performance during his first term.

The Governor in a letter, he personally delivered to President Koroma at the ceremony, said that the remarkable growth in the economy of Sierra Leone and the consolidation of peace, are parts of the significant achievements that endeared the new President to the vast majority of Sierra Leonean citizens.

“It is noteworthy that your visionary and result-driven leadership through the instrumentality of your administration’s “Agenda for Change”, has brought about veritable improvement in the provision of reliable power to the country; raising quantity and value-added productivity in agriculture and fisheries-which is critical to poverty reduction; developing a national transportation network to enable the movement of goods and people and thereby facilitate increased investment and economic activity; and ensuring sustainable human development through the provision of improved social services.” Fayemi wrote.

“You have proven that there is indeed a linkage between good governance and peace”, he stated, adding; “As my dear friend and comrade, whilst I assure you of my continued support and cooperation during your tenure, I look forward to working with you to progress in concrete terms a mutually beneficial relationship between the peoples of Ekiti State, Nigeria and the Republic of Sierra Leone”.
