Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi has presented cash and material gifts to mother of the Ekiti State first baby of the year 2012 delivered at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.
The baby girl was delivered at 12.01am and weighed 2.8kg at birth.
Presenting the gift to the parents of the child, Mr and Mrs Kayode and Omolade Akinwumi, Erelu Fayemi prayed that the child would be a source of joy and pride to the parents. She added that God would provide all the necessary things the parents would need to cater for the child.
She said “My message to all mothers in the state, especially those who have just given birth is that God Almighty would continue to guide and protect them; that their children would find favour in the sight of God and would be continuous sources of blessings to their parents.”
The governor’s wife reiterated the commitment of the state government towards improving the quality of lives of all citizens of the state in the New Year.
Special gift was also presented to the last baby of the year 2011, delivered by Mrs Blessing Aribalusi at 10.58pm on Saturday, December 31.
Erelu Bisi Fayemi also visited the Mother and Child Specialists’ Clinics, a private hospital in Ado-Ekiti, where Mrs Florence Oluwasola, was delivered of a set of male triplets on December 25.
The nursing mother, who is a member of staff of Ikere Local Government, could not conceal her joy when the governor’s wife offered to offset the bill incurred at the clinic during the delivery of the babies.
The First Lady further promised that the parents would be supported for the upkeep of the triplets in an on-going basis under the Multiple Birth Trust Fund.
Two of the triplets, who weighed 1.85kg and 1.8kg were said to be in good condition, while the third baby that weighed 1.45kg is receiving care in the incubator.
Mrs Oluwasola already had two male children before the birth of the triplets.
On the entourage of the Governor’s wife were the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Social Development and Gender Empowerment, Mrs Fola Richie-Adewusi; the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Peju Babafemi; and Action Congress of Nigeria State Women Leader and Executive Chairman of Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, Chief (Mrs) Ronke Okusanya.
