Ekiti State Government Clarifies Position On Ongoing Projects, Reaffirms Commitment To Continuous Development

April 14, 2026

The Ekiti State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, has reaffirmed its commitment to the continuous development of the State and its determination to further improve the lives of citizens during his second term in office.

The State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, stressed that contrary to recent claims and misrepresentations by some critics regarding the status of ongoing projects across the State, no project in the State can be classified as abandoned.

Olatunbosun noted that some critics, in claims mischievously designed to mislead the public, have deliberately distorted facts by mischaracterizing ongoing, phased projects as abandoned, stressing that no project under the present administration fits such description.

He emphasized that the existence of ongoing or yet-to-be-completed projects should not be misconstrued as failure, adding that they are visible evidence of a government actively working to deliver lasting value to its people.

He explained that while the Oyebanji administration inherited a significant number of abandoned and uncompleted projects across critical sectors upon assumption of office, it took deliberate steps to ensure the completion of all such inherited projects, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and prudent leadership.

He added that, apart from completing inherited projects, the administration has embarked on numerous new initiatives spanning infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, and social welfare. Several of these projects have been completed, while others are at various stages of completion, reflecting a strategic and well-coordinated development agenda aimed at ensuring sustainable growth and shared prosperity.

According to him, the administration’s key achievements across all Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas include the Ado Ekiti–Iyin Road and extensive township road rehabilitation in Ekiti Central; rural road upgrades across the Ikole, Oye, and Moba axis in Ekiti North; and the Ikere–Ise–Emure Road rehabilitation in Ekiti South, the Ikere-Igbara Odo-Ilawe Road, Ikere-Ilawe Road as well as the Igbara Odo-Ikogosi-Erijiyan-Efon Road alongside wider infrastructure interventions.

He also cited improvements at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), the revitalization of primary healthcare centres, upgrades to education infrastructure, agricultural support programmes, and youth empowerment initiatives, as well as the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport project and the Ekiti Knowledge Zone, stressing that no community in the state has been left untouched or has not benefitted from the administration’s good governance.

Describing the claims of abandonment as “politically desperate and factually untenable,” the Commissioner said the administration remains focused on delivery and continuity.

“Today, we can confidently state that every project inherited by this government has been successfully completed, restoring value to public investments and improving the lives of Ekiti citizens,” he assured.

He further stated that it is both unfair and misleading for critics to single out ongoing projects as indicators of underperformance while ignoring the broad spectrum of achievements and the clear developmental trajectory of the State under Governor Oyebanji’s leadership.

He expressed confidence in what he described as the “politically discerning people of Ekiti” to reject misinformation and support continuity under Governor Oyebanji, insisting that sustained leadership will ensure the completion of ongoing projects and consolidation of gains already achieved.

“The narrative of abandoned projects is a deliberate distortion. Ekiti is witnessing continuous development, not neglect. There are no abandoned projects in the State, only ongoing and completed developments under a coordinated agenda for growth,” he stated.
