Ekiti State Government has issued a warning against some individuals purporting to be disengaged workers of the Teaching Service Commisison and Civil Service Commission who have issued a notice of protest against the government over a recent ruling of the National Industrial Court.
The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Dayo Apata (SAN), in a statement on Wednesday, said the planned protest was uncalled for as they do not have any valid judgement against the state government as the matter is still pending before the Appeal Court.
He therefore urged them to respect the sanctity of the court and desist from breaching the peace of the state or face the full wrath of the law.
The statement reads further, “It is equally important to inform the public that majority of them (over 34 in number) have been employed back to the service of Ekiti State by the present administration via several recruitments already carried out by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. Hence, their action to embark on a protest against the state government is unbecoming and a disservice to the Government of Ekiti State.”
The statement also urged the masterminds of the protest to submit to the jurisdiction of the court as any form of protest will amount to self-help which is tantamount to contempt of court.
