Ekiti State Government Partners REA To Advance Energy Access, Set For Strategic Roundtable In Abuja

July 14, 2025

The Ekiti State Government will on Wednesday, 16th July, 2025, participate in a landmark strategic roundtable session organized by the Nigerian Rural Electrification Agency (REA), aimed at advancing scalable energy access through public-private partnerships in the state.

The State Commissioner for Infrastructure & Public Utilities, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko who made this known in Ado Ekiti, said that Governor Biodun Oyebanji is expected to deliver a Special Address during the session, reinforcing the administration’s vision for energy sector reform, rural electrification, renewable energy usage, and effective regulatory autonomy following the successful creation of the Ekiti State Electricity Regulatory Bureau (EKSERB) in 2024.

Prof. Aluko disclosed that the event, themed “Leveraging Public-Private Partnerships for Scalable Energy Access Infrastructure in Ekiti State,” scheduled to hold at Fraser Suites Hotel, Abuja, from 10:00am, will convene key players in the power sector, including federal stakeholders, private investors, development finance institutions, and technical experts.

Aluko noted that the event is part of REA’s State-by-State Strategic Roundtables and supports the Ekiti State Government’s commitment to unlocking clean, inclusive, and sustainable energy solutions across the state’s communities.

According to him, the roundtable will further explore data-driven strategies, investment models, and private-sector-led projects to accelerate energy development, particularly in underserved rural communities across Ekiti State.

He said that the event will also feature introduction of the Ekiti State Electricity Priority Plan and Implementation Roadmap (which itself will be subjected to public engagement in Ado-Ekiti on July 24, 2025) as well as the Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ekiti State Government and REA.

“This engagement aligns with the Oyebanji administration’s energy development agenda and the new realities created by the Electricity Constitutional Amendment 2023, Electricity Act 2023, and Ekiti State’s Power Sector Reform Law 2023. We are taking bold steps to attract investment, strengthen regulation, and expand access to affordable, clean power for our people,” Aluko declared.
