Ekiti State, today, received the Torch of Unity for the Ogun 2025 National Sports Festival in a symbolic ceremony at the Governor’s office in Ado Ekiti.
The presentation of the torch serves as a formal invitation to the State to attend the event slated to hold from May 16 to May 30 in Ogun State.
Receiving the torch on behalf of the Governor, the Chairman of the State House of Assembly Committee on Youths and Sports, Hon. Idowu Odebunmi hailed the delegation and described the visit as a symbol of unity across the country amidst diverse backgrounds.
Hon. Odebunmi stressed the commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to Youth development adding that he is also a sports enthusiast who is using sports for youth development, job creation, and wealth generation as well as reduction of crime and criminality.
According to him, the ongoing construction of an ultramodern 900-seat Indoor Sports Complex that would accommodate various sport and renovation of the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti which includes upgrading the football pitch to synthetic turf, renovating the administrative block, upgrading the athletics track, improving the spectator stands, and enhancing security with perimeter fencing is a reflection of the Governor’s passion for Youth and Sports development.
He assured that the State athletes are both mentally and physically prepared to participate in the tourney adding that the State Government would continue to support and encourage them towards achieving laurels for the State.
The State contingent to the National Sports Festival tagged Ogun 2025, led by the Technical Advisor to the State Governor on Sports, Dr. Olusola Osetoba had earlier accompanied the torch with pump and pageantry filled with excitement and spectacle from the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium to the Governor’s office in a display of team spirit.
