Ekiti State Government is committed to ensuring wellness and good health of its residents. To ensure this, three key inputs are required, namely: good physical infrastructure, adequate and competent personnel and availability of drugs. The needs assessment conducted revealed that although the State has systematically addressed drug availability via the establishment of a Drug Management Agency, renovated 12 Secondary Health Facilities and recently improved health worker compensation. Huge infrastructure deficit at the remaining Secondary Health Care Facilities undermines the Administration’s goal of equitable access to health care.

The hospitals to benefit from the supply of medical equipment include General Hospital, ljan Ekiti; General Hospital, ljesa-Isu Ekiti; General Hospital, llawe Ekiti; General Hospital, Okemesi Ekiti; General Hospital, Efon-Alaye; General Hospital, Iye Ekiti; General Hospital, Ayede Ekiti; General Hospital, llupeju/Itapa Ekiti; General Hospital, Ifaki Ekiti and the Government House Clinic.

The facilities to be equipped are General Hospital, Ijan Ekiti; General Hospital, Ijesa-Isu Ekiti; General Hospital, Ilawe Ekiti; General Hospital, Okemesi Ekiti; General Hospital, Efon-Alaye; General Hospital, Iye Ekiti; General Hospital, Ayede Ekiti; General Hospital, Ilupeju/Itapa Ekiti; General Hospital, Ifaki Ekiti; Government House Clinic and EKSUTH.

Modernization of our secondary health care facilities is a critical phase of a broader agenda to enhance service integration and improve the quality of care provided and received by the residents of Ekiti.

Our approach to this modernization will focus on improving existing infrastructure and furnishing the facilities with necessary equipment needed to provide high quality care.

The Exco also observed a minute silence in honor of late Bar Paul Omotoso, the State Chairman of All Progressive Congress(APC) Ekiti State who passed on to glory last week. The EXCO members prayed for the repose of his soul.

The late Omotoso was a member of State EXCO between 2010- 2014.
