There was excitement in the air in Ado Ekiti on Thursday as the Ekiti State Government gave out bags of rice as gifts to not less than 250 different groups across the state to celebrate Christmas.

Apparently impressed by the gesture, the beneficiaries were full of appreciation to Governor Biodun Oyebanji for remembering the people in the grassroots and making this year’s Yuletide a memorable one for them.

Speaking during the distribution exercise in Ado Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant on Community Communications, Mrs Mary Oso Omotoso reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring prosperity for all and wellbeing of the people.

Governor Oyebanji explained that the move was an expression of appreciation noting that it is the season of giving when people should show kindness to one another in gifts and affection in which his administration was playing a pivotal role in making people happy at Yuletide.

Governor Oyebanji urged the beneficiaries to kindly accept the token as the state government was appreciating their support and commitment since the inception of his administration, adding that those who could not benefit this year would enjoy more next year.

Omotosho said that the people are already witnessing and attesting to the fulfilment of the Governor’s promises during electioneering campaigns such as the ongoing massive road rehabilitation in the State capital.

Earlier in her remark, the Coordinator of the groups and former Chairman, Ado Ekiti Local Government, Mrs. Tosin Aluko, appreciated the groups for their support before and after the election period stating that the Biodun Oyebanji administration would not cease to ensure security of lives and property of the citizens.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with newsmen like the former Auditor-General of the state Mr. Adedayo Ajayi representing Ekute Community and the General Secretary of Immigration representing GRA Community, Mr Oladimeji Abiodun expressed joy at the gesture of the Governor which they described as unprecedented.

They submitted that his latest move had shown him to be a man of his words and indeed a round peg in a round hole.

Also responding, other beneficiaries like Mr Taiwo Olaniyi, Chief (Mrs) Adefunke Ogunrinde and Mr. Fatuase Gabriel who spoke on behalf of their groups expressed gratitude to the Governor for the gesture, while commending his administration’s proactive steps at ensuring regular payment of salary, provision of social amenities like streetlights, road rehabilitation among others.

They prayed for more successes and pledged more support for the Biodun Oyebanji administration as he continues to steer the ship of Ekiti State to an enviable destination.
