Ajumobi Calls For Greater Collaboration With EKSACA

The Permanent Secretary of the Ekiti State Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Kola Ajumobi has called on the Ekiti State AIDS Control Agency (EKSACA) to closely collaborate with his Ministry in order to further sensitize the people at the grass root with a view to drastically reducing the HIV/AIDS prevalence in the state.

Speaking while receiving members of EKSACA in his office in Ado-Ekiti, Mr. Ajumobi stressed the need for more sensitization to reduce the scourge.
According to him, EKSACA should take advantage of the newly established viewing centres at Aramoko, Ikole and Ikere to further sensitize the people, adding that the move would have a far-reaching effect on the fight against the spread of the disease.
Earlier, the EKSACA programme Manager, Dr. Charles Doherty expressed appreciation for the assistance of the Ministry of Information for the Agency through various campaigns, messages and sensitization programmes.

The programme manager who noted that the prevalent percentage of HIV/AIDS in the State stands at 1.4 percent which translates to about additional 9,500 new infections as at 2010 said more collaborative efforts are needed with the Ministry to further enlighten members of the society on the need to prevent the scourge and shun stigmatizing
the people living with the HIV/Virus.

In a related development the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Folakemi Olomojobi has commended the Ekiti State Aids Control Agency (EKSACA) for their efforts at reducing the spread of
HIV/AIDS virus in the state.
Dr. Olomojabi gave the commendation during the advocacy visit of SACA executive under the leadership of the programme manager, Dr. Charles Doherty in her office in Ado.
The Permanent Secretary who thanked the leadership of the Agency for the visit affirmed government commitment to take health care services to the door-step of every Ekiti people.
