EKSG Cautions Property Developers Against Re-Constructing Demolished Structures

March 6, 2013

Ekiti State Government has warned landlords, property developers and traders against rebuilding structures that were demolished for violating the state Urban Renewal Law and those pulled down to make way for set back of the new roads under construction in the State.

The Commissioner for Housing, Physical planning and Urban Development, Mr. Remi Olorunleke who gave the warning in Ado Ekiti, said Property developers who embark on construction without necessary approval from his Ministry would be made to face the wrath of the law.
Emphasizing that owners of all demolished structures have been fully compensated, Mr. Olorunleke stressed the resolve of the Fayemi led administration to implement the Urban Renewal project in order to ensure rapid development and proper control.
According to him, the state government has embarked on the construction of four neighborhood markets in the state capital to accommodate the traders that were displaced following the demolition of stalls at Oja Oba and the Bisi Egbeyemi markets.
Olorunleke said that the construction of the neighborhood markets is without bias to the ongoing plan to construct an ultra-modern market in the state capital.
He assured that the Fayemi led administration would not relent efforts to fast-track development in the state, stressing that a master plan for the state capital would soon be prepared.
