Press Release

July 16, 2021

ADO-EKITI | Friday, July 16, 2021

The attention of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (Ekiti SUBEB) has been drawn to multiple media reports that a staff of the board, Olubola Olusola Sunday has been convicted and sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for engaging in internet fraud.

For the avoidance of doubt, the board wishes to state emphatically that we were not aware that the accused, who is a night watchman in one of the public primary schools in the state, was under trial, as neither the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) nor the Federal High Court Court notified the board nor the management of the school where the convicted night watchman was serving that he was under trial.

The Board wishes to state that as a responsible public sector organization that has zero tolerance for acts of indiscipline and criminality, the board would treat the issue of the convicted staff dispassionately in line with provisions of the State Public Service Rules.

Signed:

Oluwadare Ajayi

Permanent Secretary
