Governor Fayemi reiterates commitment to security of life, property at grassroots

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has reaffirmed his commitment to securing lives and property of people at the grassroots with a call on traditional rulers to support the state government efforts in combating crimes and criminality in their domains

Governor Fayemi stated this on Tuesday when he received the Oluroye of Iroko Ekiti, Oba Sunday Ekundayo and some of his chiefs in his office in Ado Ekiti.

The Governor while responding to some allegation of herdsmen attack on Iroko community last year, stressed that the primary role of the government is to protect the lives and properties of all its citizens, particularly in the rural areas without attacking innocent people on account of profiling.

He added that the State Government had engaged the authentic Fulani herders and their representatives, Miyetti Allah and as well organized meetings between them and the Ekiti State Chapter of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), to work out lasting modalities of managing the differences between farmers and pastoralists in the State.

This measure, with the arrest of some of the criminals perpetrating crimes on people’s farm, according to the Governor, has contributed largely to the recent calmness enjoined in the State.
