The Schools Agriculture and Enterprise Agency was established to promote sustainable practical agriculture and entrepreneurship skill acquisition among students of Public Secondary Schools in Ekiti the State.
This involves exposing the students to practical agriculture and basic skills in various enterprises. This is in tandem with the “shared prosperity” mantra as encapsulated in the Youth Development and Employment Creation’s Agenda of His Excellency.
The various functions of the Agency are tailored towards achieving the lofty objectives of the Agency. These includes;
- To establish Projects in schools where students can have access to practical experiences in the area of Agriculture and Entrepreneurial skills acquisition.
- To mandate every student to offer at least one entrepreneurial subject from Junior Secondary School to Senior Secondary Certificate Examination level.
- To encourage schools to generate revenue from proceeds of practical Agriculture and Enterprise Projects.
- To partner with relevant organizations in the development of Agriculture and Enterprise Projects in schools.
- Reawakening and promoting skills and talents among the students towards self –reliance and job opportunities.
- To enable the students acquiring skills in the various fields of Agriculture ranging from Crop production and Animal Husbandry for self-reliance such as Poultry, Fishery, Piggery, Apiary (Bee keeping), Goat keeping, Snairy, Rabbitry etc.
- Acquiring skills on various enterprise projects, such as Bakery, Garments making, Chalk productions, plantain and snacks production and others.
- Regular monitoring of the schools for practical agriculture and the various enterprise projects.
