Ekiti State Electricity Board
The Ekiti State Electricity Board (EKSEB) is the agency of Ekiti State Government that is charged with the responsibility of advising government and implementing policies on electricity supply within the State.
The Board is responsible for the development, management and provision of electricity infrastructure and related services across Ekiti State. The Board operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities and plays major important role in the State Government’s efforts to expand electricity access, improve the reliability of power supply and support socio-economic development across the State.
EKSEB was established as a corporate body under the Ekiti State Electricity Law (Law No. 6 of 2012), and the Ekiti State Electricity Power Sector Law (Law No. 11 of 2023), enacted by the Ekiti State House of Assembly to regulate and guide its activities. The law provides the legal and institutional framework for the Board and defines its functions and powers in relation to electricity generation, distribution, electrical infrastructure and associated services within the State.
Thus, the core mandate of EKSEB is to develop, manage and facilitate the provision of electricity infrastructure and services in Ekiti State, in accordance with its enabling law and the policies of the State Government.
Mission
To serve as a one-stop agency for the formulation and implementation of government policies on electricity supply and distribution, thereby enhancing service delivery and improving the quality of life of the people.
Vision
To provide abundant and sustainable electricity supply for the citizenry of Ekiti State.
EKSEB’s mandate is central to the socio-economic growth of Ekiti State. Its core functions include:
- Rural electrification of communities not covered by the national grid.
- Extension of electricity to expanding towns and villages.
- Construction of independent power generating stations for areas underserved by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).
- Purchase and distribution of electricity to consumers.
- Provision and maintenance of streetlight infrastructure.
- Maintenance of government power installations, including Government House and Ministries.
- Exploration of alternative energy sources within the State.
- Liaison with federal agencies to improve rural electrification and alternative energy deployment.
The General Manager serves as the Administrative Head and Accounting Officer of the Board, supported by seven (7) professional departments:

- Mechanical Services
- Energy Matters
Each department is headed by a Director and staffed with engineers, technologists, administrators, accountants, and other professionals.
Since inception, the Board has overseen many developmental projects across various communities of Ekiti State. This ranges from Line extension and Network rehabilitations, Transformer installations, repairs and upgrades, distribution of Independent Power Plant network, to solar street lighting projects.
