EKSG Commissions 300million Naira Worth of Hospital Equipment

The Government of Ekiti State has reiterated its commitment to strengthening current capacity at its health facilities to enable them deliver quality care to its residents.

The  Governor Ekiti State Dr. Kayode Fayemi gave the assurance at the commissioning of 300million naira worth of hospital equipment at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH).

Dr. Fayemi who was represented at the event by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi disclosed that the equipment which are to be distributed among the forty-eight health facilities across the State, were generously donated by Global Fund under its Resilient And Sustainable System for Health (RSSH) granted implemented by Management Sciences for Health.

The Governor noted that the increasing investment in the health sector is a proof of his Administration’s resolve to improve health outcomes in the State, stating further that it is the evidence of the strong collaboration between the Federal and State Government, as well as with development partners.

He appealed to all citizens and residents of the state to leverage on the Ekiti State Health Insurance Scheme currently being rolled out, as the State Government has established it to reduce the financial burden for health care among the people, adding that the equipment will contribute to the State’s efforts in ensuring affordable, accessible and quality health care.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani stated that the development was rightly timed as the state has started massive renovation of health facilities at all levels and providing modern equipment for the delivery of quality health services.

Dr. Filani explained that in addition to the state’s focus on quality health care, a Continued Quality Improvement Plan would be instituted at Primary Healthcare Centres under a network collaborative initiative and aggressive use of data to support performance management and utilization. He expressed appreciation to the development partners for their steadfastness and support over the years.

“I heartily commend the various development partners for their steadfastness and support over the years especially Mr. Ibrahim Faria of Global Fund, Mr. Dozie Ezechukwu and Tajudeen Ibrahim of country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) and Dr. Olumide Elegbede and Dr. Abiodun Hassan of Management Sciences for Health(MSH) for their roles in helping to secure this support.” He commended.

The hospital equipment donated include delivery beds, stethoscopes, drip stands, cord clamps, weighing scales, episiotomy scissors, blood pressure and glucose monitors among others.
